KunStart 12 – Focus Korea – Bolzano

kunStart 12 presenta FOCUS KOREA: uno sguardo all’Asia emergente – kunStart 12, la fiera biennale per l’arte contemporanea emergente che si tiene a Bolzano dal 16 al 18 marzo 2012, una sezione speciale è dedicata alla Corea del Sud.
Nasce dalla volontà di dare un respiro internazionale a questa fiera, il progetto "Focus Korea", che presenta una panoramica della produzione emergente della Corea del Sud con la partecipazione di 10 gallerie coordinate da Chris H. Cheon (Presidente dell’associazione di scambi culturali franco-coreani “Nez-a-Nez”), interfacciate a 4 gallerie europee che espongono artisti coreani.
Un folto programma collaterale di conferenze, presentazioni e artist talks con il patrocinio del Consolato Generale della Repubblica di Corea di Milano e cinque personali completano il focus: Jeong Min Suh a cura della a&b Gallery, Hyon Soo Kim a cura di Valerio Dehò, nonché una mostra con opere di Nam June Paik dalla collezione dell’archivio Pari&Dispari di Rosanna Chiessi, il Solo Show di Junggeun Oh "Zwischenräume" della Galerie Son di Berlino e infine il dialogo transfrontaliero della coppia di artisti MinJi Kim e Alessandro Dal Pont (lei coreana, lui bellunese) a cura di dolomiti contemporanee.
L’area “Focus Korea” offre un’interessante panoramica su un mercato internazionale in piena espansione che va ritagliandosi, da qualche anno, uno spazio di crescente interesse.
“Yeon-Du Chung attraverso i mezzi di comunicazione, Yong-Baek Lee e Jung-Hwa Choi con le installazioni, Do- Ho Suh rivelando un messaggio di scontro tra civiltà ed epoche storiche, Su-Ja Kim con l’uso di stoffe tese o ripiegate a borsa, Byung-woo Bae e A-Ta Kim attraverso la fotografia, sono attualmente gli artisti che raccontano la situazione dell’arte contemporanea coreana nel mondo.
Ora, credo che il gruppo di più di 50 eccellenti artisti coreani (incluso Jeong-Min Suh per il Solo Show) che parteciperanno a kunStart 12 introdurranno un alto livello di arte coreana in Europa e porteranno cosi onore al loro paese.” osserva Martino Jong-Geun Kim (professore associato, Hongik University, direttore del K-ARTIST PROJECT, editore del Collector’s art Magazine, critico d’arte) ./.. kunStart 12 presents FOCUS KOREA: a glance on emerging Asia
kunStart 12, the biennial art fair for contemporaray art, taking place in Bolzano 16 -18 March 2012, dedicates a special section to South Korea.
With the intention of starting international project, the "Korea Focus," presents an overview of emerging production in South Korea with a group of participating galleries coordinated by Chris H. Cheon (President of the Franco-Korean cultural exchange Association Nez-a-Nez), alongside European galleries exhibiting Korean artists.
A large supporting programme of lectures, presentations and artist talks organized under the patronage of the General Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Milan and personal exhibitions of Jeong Min Suh by the A & B Gallery and Hyon Soo Kim by Valerio Dehò, as well as an exhibition with works by Nam June Paik’s from the archive collection “Pari e Dispari” of Rosanna Chiessi Chiessi, the dialogue between the couple of artists MinJi Kim e Alessandro Dal Pont (from South Korea and from Belluno in Italy, respectively) curated by dolomiti contemporanee and Solo Show Junggeun OH "Zwischenräume" by Galerie Son.
Korea accomplished a unprecedented economic growth in a short time, and accordingly Korean art market volume has been enormously increased through a traditional gallery operation system as in Europe so far.
“Yeon-Du Chung through mass media, Yong-Baek Lee and Jung-Hwa Choi with Installation Art, Do-Ho Suh revealing a message of a clash between civilizations and era, Su-Ja Kim working with cloths and bags, Byung-Woo Bae and A-Ta Kim by means of photography are a group of artists who show the position of Korean Contemporary Art in the world.
Now, I believe the group of more than 50 excellent Korean artists (including Jeong-Min Suh for the solo show) participating in the kunstart 12 Biennial Art Fair in Bolzano will introduce a high level of Korean arts to Europe and bring honour to our country by making a great success as well.“ said Martino Jong-Geun Kim (adjunct professor at Hongik University.
