Placentia Arte è lieta di presentare Spero che questo trasloco sia l’ultimo, prima mostra personale di Simone Monsi in Italia.
Ennesimo trasloco, tutte le scatole già in macchina. Non sento più le mani, le falangi intorpidite. Manca solo una scatola, mi alzo e vado a prenderla. La scatola delle foto profilo, già usata in tanti traslochi, è tutta sgualcita e forse stavolta l’ho riempita troppo. Tre passi e il fondo si rompe, una valanga di selfie mi si rovescia sui piedi. Sono pesanti, i piedi stanchi, non riesco a muovermi. I simulacri prendono vita, escono dall’interfaccia in cui erano stati intrappolati. L’invasione ha inizio.
Per difenderci non rimane che impugnare la prima cosa che ci capita fra le mani, ma in casa sono rimasti solo moci. Facciamo del mocio la nostra bandiera! Ma la mocio-bandiera non ha simboli né colori, è sbiadita, perché abbiamo svenduto il sorriso e le sfumature delle emozioni per una manciata di followers e dirottato l’umorismo su battute generiche sognando di fare il pieno di likes.
Gli ultrasmile dilagano, i loro sorrisi mi abbagliano. Messo all’angolo, tento la fuga ma mi ritrovo in bagno. Profumato e luccicante. Sono a terra, indietreggio, le ombre rotonde avanzano e si riflettono sulle piastrelle lucide. Con la punta delle dita tocco qualcosa sul pavimento dietro di me, è un fon per capelli.
I moci stritolati tra le guance paffute dei simulacri servono a poco ormai. Non rimane che un fon… infiliamo la spina e soffiamoli via! Ma i fon sono stati hackerati dagli ultrasmile! Non soffiano aria, ma diventano megafoni per la loro preghiera metal-gothic! Sono vuoto senz’anima! Non è rimasto niente dentro me, soffiami dentro e fammi diventare reale! Gli ultrasmile reclamano la loro vita! Ma loro non hanno un’anima e vogliono la nostra!

Placentia Arte is delighted to present Spero che questo trasloco sia l’ultimo [Hope this is the last time I move], the first solo exhibition in Italy by Simone Monsi.
I’m moving again. All the boxes are already in the car. I can’t feel my hands anymore, my fingers are numb. Only one box left in the house, I get up and go to get it. It’s the profile pictures box, already used for many other moves, it’s all creased and this time I might have filled it up too much. Only three steps and the box breaks, a flood of selfies fall right on my feet. They’re heavy, my feet tired, I can’t move. The simulacra come alive and get out of the interface where they had been trapped. The invasion begins.
Anything goes to protect our safety, but mops are the only things left in the house. Let’s make a mop our flag! But the mop-flag doesn’t have any symbol nor colour, it’s faded, like our smile and the shades of our emotions we’ve given away to gain a bunch of new followers – and humour have been hijacked into generic jokes dreaming of getting tons of likes.
The Smile Snatchers spread everywhere with their dazzling smiles. My back to the wall, I try to run away but end up in the bathroom – scented and gleaming. I’m on the floor, moving back, I can see their round shadows coming ahead on the shiny tiles. With the tips of my fingers I feel something on the floor behind me. It’s a hairdryer.
All the mops got crushed, the simulacra are crunching them in their chubby cheeks. Nothing is left but a hairdryer… let’s switch it on and blow them away! But it’s been hacked by the Smile Snatchers! It doesn’t blow air anymore, it becomes a megaphone for their metal-gothic prayer instead! I’m empty without a soul! I have nothing left inside, breathe into me and make me real! The Smile Snatchers want their own life! But they don’t have a soul and want ours!
